Family Time, Photos and the Emergency Room

Last weekend, the hubster, kiddos and I took a road trip. We went to visit my grandparents for my grandfather's 80th birthday! It was wonderful to see the smile on his face when he noticed that we were parked in their driveway. It was a surprise.... he wasn't expecting us.

I knew that we had to go visit soon because both of them aren't in the best of health and this was the perfect time to go.

It's always wonderful chatting with my grandparents and looking at the excitement in my grandfather's face while he is telling me one of his many stories about his childhood or when they were married.

My grandmother was a photographer and my grandfather was a mechanic in the Korean war. They proudly display photos and goodies throughout their home from way back when. Walking into their home is like walking into the past... in a way.

Here are a few pictures I snapped while there...

This beauty is on their Magnolia tree just to the side of their home. It's huge! The tree and the flower! Seriously! The flower is just about as big as my head!
They live in a really big home. Well, big for me. I couldn't get it all in the picture without going to play in traffic.
Here are a couple of vintage cameras that my grandmother picked up at a garage sale! She loves her garage sales and always finds great items for a great price!
This is a poster that brought back a lot of memories for her. She even made sure to say the K-K-K-Katy for me!
My grandmother really gets a kick out of this one. The whole "GEE!! I wish I were a man. I'd join the Navy" part.
This is a picture of my grandparents wedding day and my grandmother. Awww...
I love how they've pieced together family pictures, old clocks and old pictures around the fireplace.
This is just a very small part of my grandfather's collection of antique vehicles.
A bit more of my grandfather's collection along with a picture of my grandparents.
I could have taken so many more pictures, but a bit after we got there, we ended up at the Emergency Room with our son.

He was playing around in a sleeping bag... you know... jumping around like he was in a potato sack race (don't all kids do that?!)... and he ended up falling. He bent his big toe under his foot and fell with all of his weight on it.

I posted a picture on my Instagram and Facebook for the would to see (which he wasn't too happy about).

Thank God, he didn't break it and he's doing great!

It was wonderful to spend time with my grandparents and will be seeing one of my aunts (that I haven't seen in about a year) this coming weekend.
