Back To School Goodies From Etsy

My kiddos will be starting school in a few weeks. I get sad around this time of year because I'm one of those mom's that doesn't want their kids to start back to school.  I'm so thankful that they get to go to school and have the chance to learn so much.  I just wish they had a little more time off.  It goes by so fast.

Last year, my kiddos school started school uniforms.  I so miss my kids being able to pick out their clothes and having their own style.  I understand why the school has uniforms now, but I still miss it.

This year, they have school issued backpacks.  They can't even pick out their own backpacks!  *Sad Face*

But, browsing these Back To School goodies on Etsy brings a smile to my face.

How cute is this outfit?!

Kids Say The Darndest Things

Today, when I woke up, I was feeling kinda blah. So, I decided it would be a great day to cross stitch and ease my mind.

Instead of watching shows on the tube, I was going to listen to some tunes. My daughter was in the living room with me writing stories.

I'm more of a Rock music loving kind of gal and my daughter likes Pop music. I was trying to find something that we could meet in the middle on.

As I was flipping through the channels, I came upon the 90's channel. Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison was on. I started singing, in my best rocker chic voice, and stopped when I noticed what year the song was from.

Me: "Oh wow!  That was back in 1988."

I'm thinking... sheesh I'm old.

Little Mama: "Ain't they dead now?"

I laughed and said no.

Little Mama: "Oh wait, you were born before that, right?"

Sheesh, way to pump me up there kiddo!

I love kids honesty.

Look What The Hubster Found In Our Bathtub

I had separated the laundry and placed my daughters comforter on the side of our bathtub just to get it out of the way until washing.

The hubster went into the bathroom and found our Mr. Morris chillin' in the tub.  He had pulled the comforter in and made him a nice cozy place to sleep.  He's too funny.

It's funny how he hates baths and yet he's in the bathtub sleeping. He whines the entire time while trying to get out. I guess since there's no water in the tub right now... he's all good.

He also likes to take naps in the sink.  I suppose it's cooler in there for him with the crazy heat that we're having.

Looking at his face... I think he wants me to quit taking pictures of him and let him get back to what he does best.

Putting The "Not So Functional" In Mommy

Today has been an off day for me.  I was am still having an I don't want to be bothered day.  Do you ever go through that?  I've been aggravated in a mood and I don't know what the heck is wrong with me.

After running errands today, I just wanted to relax.  Do nothing.  No laundry, no dishes, no dusting... just relax.  That's what I tried to do... since I was being irritable Mommy today.

My loving daughter has been rather bored this summer and is constantly talking.  She got the gift of gab honestly.  I love her to pieces.  But sometimes, Mommy just needs quiet time.  Time to relax.  Time to watch "Mommy Shows".  Time to concentrate on what I want to concentrate on.

This Is What I've Been Up To This Weekend

This weekend was semi-busy.  By Saturday evening I was pooped.

Last year, we waited until it was close-er to the kiddos starting back to school before we went clothes shopping.  That was a mistake.  The school decided to switch to uniforms last year... as did many schools around here.  It is cheaper than buying them everyday clothes, if you can catch some good sales.

I do miss the kiddos being able to express their own personalities by wearing the clothes they like.  But, I understand why the school changed the dress code.

My mother went on the hunt with me Saturday for school clothes.  We ended up making a couple of pit stops along the way.  I found some of their clothes at Target, but most of them came from Academy.  They have great prices.  The problem... none of the pants fit my daughter.  Too small, too big, too long, too frumpy.  So, she ended up getting mostly skirts and a couple pairs of shorts.  My son wants to wear only pants... easy purchase for him.

I'm very, very glad the "clothing" part of the school shopping is done.  All that's left are school supplies.

Cross Stitch WIP

I have a few more projects on my "To Do" list, but I did start working on a Cross Stitch piece that I've been wanting to do.  I'm actually stitching two out of the booklet pictured above.  I'm making the two topiaries pictured on the right.

The patterns are from the DMC Cross Stitch booklet Floral Fantasy designed by Jeanette Crews.

The plan is for them to go in our master bathroom, but I may change my mind. :)

How To Make An Altered Picture Frame

Altered Picture Frame

I have been wanting to make one of these for a while now.  There are so many options with these to make them fit any decor.  With the amount of scrapbook paper and embellishments available, the possibilities are endless.

I made this Altered/Decorated Picture Frame for my daughter's room and plan on making another for my son's room.

Below, you will find the steps I took in order to make this cutie.

The Garage Sale Is Finally Over

I'm feeling every bit of that Garage Sale!  Thursday, we marked and set out tons of stuff.  Friday and Saturday was the actual sale.

It was super hot.  Over 100 degrees everyday!  Burnt and hurting... a great combo!  Literally, everything on my body hurts.  By the third day, my body had enough.  I think I got too hot because I started getting dizzy and had a horrible headache.  I'm all good now.. aside from the pain in my feet and legs... lol.

We did very well.  We sold tons of stuff.  I asked the hubster how many truck loads of things he thought we had at the sale and he said about two of the 1-800-Got-Junk trucks.  LOL

Now, I'm off to get caught up on things around here.  But, I'm back from my small blogging break.

Latest Happenings

I have to say... I'm a bit overwhelmed lately.  I'm trying to hold it all together.  I'm trying not to break down.  I'm trying to keep myself busy to avoid thinking about the bad... but it keeps creeping in.

As some of you may know, my grandmother passed away in March.  Around the same time, one of my aunt's was going through heart surgery.  My aunt is better now.  We were all really worried.

Some of you may also know that my husband had an accident at work.  It has been almost a year now of working with Worker's Comp. and it has been hell.  They have done nothing to "fix" him so far.  He has severe back pain, his body is starting to get used to the meds so they're not working as well as they once were.  He can't live a normal life right now.  He isn't able to work.  He isn't able to play around with the kids outside.  He can't stand for long periods of time.  He can barely tie his shoes.  Yet, they keep denying... denying... denying.

Sayings And Fonts Used For Family Rules Canvas

I received some great questions about the Family Rules Canvas that I made.  Thank you Staci!  I answered them in the comment section of the post, but I also wanted to make a separate post.  Below you will also find the actual sayings/graphics that I used that you can save and print for your own.  You should be able to click them picture and save them to use.

One questions, was about the type of paper that I used.  I used regular printer paper.  Just a multi-purpose paper.

Embellished Wood Cut Outs - How To

I wanted to make something to go on my Chicken Wire Picture Frames.  A little something to go along with the pictures.  I remembered that I had some wood cutouts that I had purchased to make the Patio Pavers.  So, I thought... why not embellish them a bit and hang them on the wire.

I taped my wood cutouts to a paper plate to make them easier to paint.  The flower pot was painted first and then I painted just the edges of the rectangle.  I could have painted the edges of the heart only, but I couldn't help myself.

After the paint was dry, I cut out a couple of pieces of Scrapbook paper and used Mod Podge to hold them in place.
