Awards, Awards & Memorial Day Moving?

Last week I shared with you all of the upcoming things that we had coming up. Most of them have been completed! Woot!

* We attended our daughters D.A.R.E. graduation program and I'm super proud to announce that her story was one of the 8 chosen to be read on stage! She was so nervous and I'm so very proud of her for getting up there in front of everyone! She did awesome and was very proud of herself!
Sorry for the blurry pic! iPhone+Zoom = not so great.
* We attended our sons Award's ceremony which he reluctantly attended and took pictures for. His face turned completely red when he heard his name called for an award and had to go up to the stage. I'm super proud of him!

* Our daughter went to a local water park with the school and we had to gather everything she needed this past weekend. She was so excited and had a blast. I lathered on the sunscreen before she left and gave her instructions to reapply, but... poor thing... she still got burnt.
* I spent Memorial Day with my family moving furniture (which included a huge wardrobe, two chest of drawers, a table and chairs, and a swing) and later in the afternoon we had a nice relaxing BBQ! I'm not quite sure why my family decided that Memorial Day was the best day to move furniture. I'm glad that part is done, though!

We have one more award's ceremony to attend for our daughter and they are out of school for the summer!

I'm sooooo ready for school to be out!!

We are having Internet issues and I have limited use at the moment. Someone will be coming out to figure out what's going on Wednesday.

So, I will be taking a few days to get caught up on a few things around here in the meantime.

Gutzy Gear {Review}

Last year, the school that my children go to, started a new strict dress code. They are only allowed to wear solid colored polo shirts and khaki, blue or black bottoms (pants, shorts or skirts).

While I understand the reasoning behind wanting to change the dress code, it made me a bit sad that they would not be able to show their personality through the style of clothes that they enjoy.

Each child was issued the same backpack as well. Solid blue. This is why I'm so excited about Gutzy Gear!

It's a great way for my kiddos to express their personal style through customizing their own look with their backpacks!

Gutzy Gear

The best thing about Gutzy Gear is that the kids can add them to their backpack straps and change them anytime by themselves. No sewing! No ironing!

Gutzy Gear offers a collection of fun, colorful embroidered patches to attach to their backpack strap covers. Such as:

* Cell Phone
* Purse
* Sunglasses
* Cupcake
* Ice Cream
* Pizza
* Popcorn
* Smiley Faces
* Football
* Guitars
* Dragons
* and may more!
Gutzy Gear
Gutzy Gear
The strap covers are super easy to use by simply wrapping and securing them on the straps of any standard backpack, rolling bag or messenger bag. There is no glue or sewing to mess with!

Gutzy Gear is very affordable! You will receive 2 Backpack Straps and 2 Gutzies for only $9.99! The patches (Gutzies) are only $4.99 each!

My daughter is so excited about hers and can't wait to get more Gutzies to add to her collection!

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my own experience.

Happy Mother's Day!! {The Best Mother's Day Ever!}

I wanted to wish all of you mama's a Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful day spending time with my family. We had a very nice lunch with my Dad, Mom, Uncle and Aunt. Before we left the house I received these heart warming cards from my kiddos...

The front of my son's card. It says, "Your so beautiful, I can't handle it. But, when I see your beauty, it makes me want to cry a little bit."

The inside left of my son's card. It says, "A special thanks from me to you, a day just to you. Now, I give you this card, with no regard, from me to you, to make you smile is what I do." There is a flower in a vase that reads, "It's not real, so don't try to take it off the paper." And a diamond ring in a box that says, "Trust me, it was hard to get that ring into that case."

The inside right of my son's card. It says, "Connect the stars" with stars in the shape of a heart and a poem...
"I love you very much, and don't ever think I do things to you to be mean or annoying, it's always to make my only and favorite mom laugh." Happy Mother's day... "Hugs incoming!"

The front of my daughter's card. I love that she thinks I'm cool, terrific and awesome. Don't you just love how she had to write "upside down."

The inside left of my daughter's card. Poem: Lots of life has gone by since we'd sit around and play. Under water colored skies. Time and I just flew away. Of all the precious gifts you gave me, my favorite one was love. I will always be your baby. Happy Mother's Day!

The inside right of my daughter's card. On the pocket it says, "You're not just a mom. You're a cleaning machine! You love to help people out and be a generous person. Thank you for all the support."

Oh my goodness! They make me laugh! I love them two!

After lunch, my Mom, the kiddos and I headed out to JCPenney to get them some new school shoes. Theirs were in pretty bad shape and no matter how much I kept my fingers crossed that they would make it until the end of school, it just wasn't happening. I also got me some new flip flops!

Next we made a trip to Cato's! I love me some Cato's! My Uncle and Aunt gave me a gift card for Mother's Day and I couldn't wait to spend it! I think my daughter tried on every single pair of shoes they had.

There were so many goodies that I wanted to get, but I had to stay strong! I had to resist the temptation! For now. So, I found a cute pair of shorts and a flower headband for my daughter.

I loved spending the day with my Mom and I'm a bit upset that I didn't take any pictures of her. I think I was just enjoying my time with them all so much, that it completely slipped my mind.

Since I forgot, I dug up a couple of my favorite pictures of my beautiful Mom. I love her to pieces! She's always there for me when I need her.

I hope you all had a fabulous day!

Truncated Posts and Commenting - Opinions Needed

The last few hours I have been reading about blogging. I'm always interested in learning new things that I can use or do that will help make me a better blogger.

There are two things that I have always struggled with and I need your opinions.

1. Truncated Posts.
Love em or hate em?

For those of you that aren't sure what truncated posts are...They are posts that have a few sentences showing and then you will have to click that will take you to the full post.

The main reason why I started doing this on my blog was to have my blog load quicker (especially on Fridays for the linky party).

2. Commenting.
Do you prefer bloggers respond to your comments via email or on your blog? Or do you respond to comments on your blog?

I tend to reply via email when the e-mail address is available, but reply to a commenter on their blog when they are a no-reply blogger.

What do you prefer?

Random Pictures From Yesterday

I couldn't wait to get back home after our trip to see the hubster's doctor. We basically went to discuss the first denial of his back surgery. We decided to try again... now we wait.

I just wanted to share a few pictures that I took yesterday. I did post a couple of them on Facebook, but sharing them here as well. I'm sorry some of them aren't that great. I took them on my iphone.

The Monolithic Dome Institute in Italy, Texas. This place kind of weirds me out.

Entering Dallas, Texas.
While waiting to speak to the doctor, I snapped a picture of this poster.
Some of the traffic we had to deal with on the way back home. I think we were going 10mph here.
Medieval Times. I would love to go here someday.
Sorry about the blurriness! Coors Light Waterfall! I'm not big on beer but I think this is pretty neat!
The sky when we got home.
And another sky pic!
My Mother's Day gift to my Mom. I was excited to get this wrapped up!
 Going to Dallas doesn't bother me, but the traffic... wowza! I don't think I could ever get used to that! Do you have heavy traffic in your area?
