Functional Friday Linky Party #28

This week has not been a "crafty" week for me. I tried. I just had complete mostly failures.

My craft failures of the week...

Master Bedroom Before:

 Master Bedroom After:

I liked the colors of the bedding in our bedroom in the before picture and I liked the style. However, it was a bit too busy and too dark. I wanted something lighter.

This is not working! The hubster says he feels like he's in his Grandmother's house. I have to agree. I made the shams, curtains and added onto the pillow cases (because they were a bit too short).

The good thing is! We have something on our bed that lightens up the room.

Next up... the bird feeder I painted for my Dad's birthday.

It didn't quite turn out like I had imagined. My daughter thinks "it is more for a kids room". I, on the other hand, think it looks like a clown house.

Lastly, my Seasonal Cross Stitch picture that I was finally able to frame. I purchased a frame from Goodwill for $1.99 and made it over especially for this piece.

Here's the issue. The piece didn't fit exactly in the frame. I needed a mat around it. I didn't have a mat or anything to make a mat from. So, I used fabric. Easy peasy, right?! Nope.

I stitched it too close to the cross stitch and it's completely crooked. I now have to redo it.

On a positive note, I'm loving the frame!

Keeping my fingers crossed that I can do a bit better next week.

I can't wait to see what you crafty folks came up with!

Let's get started with Functional Friday!

If you do not post a link to my party within your post or on your blog, I will not feature you.  Each project/recipe that is featured will be pinned to my Pinterest boards!

Here are a few submissions from last weeks link up that made me want to get all functional and stuff...

I'm in love with this chair/couch shared by Little House in the Big D!
How cute is this Spring Grass Wreath shared by Sew Can Do?!
Aren't these Chalkboard Labeled Planters fantastic?! Shared by Ode to Inspiration.
Fried Pickles! Oh my! Yes! Shared by King of Savings.

  1. Yaay!! Thanks Angela for featuring my planters!! Tell me about project failures! I was trying to make placemats out of a clear plastic table covering that had lace print all over it (found it at Joanns)... I thought it would be cute to cut it up and make placemats out of it... but no matter what fabric color I used underneath as the bottom layer it was just not looking right:( It's been put on the shelf for now... I wasted too much time trying to make it work so I decided to just remove myself from the project and come back another time. If I wasn't loving the "lace" plastic I wouldn't have just thrown it out of the window! :P

  5. The transformation of that love seat was amazing. For your bedroom, maybe you should consider a print that reads as a solid. Not florals, perhaps a small stripe or other print. Good luck with the room.
