Valentine's Wreath Tutorial

I wanted to whip up a last minute wreath idea to have something to hang on our bare door. At least for a couple of days.
The first thing I did was trace a heart onto a piece of printer paper to use as a template. I folded the paper in half... longways... traced half of the heart then cut with the paper still folded.

Once I had my template, I traced around it onto a piece of foam and then drew a heart inside the previous one about an inch in. Once the heart was the way I liked, I used my xacto knife to cut it out. This created my heart wreath.

Next up... time to wrap! I cut 6 strips of fabric about 1/2 inches wide. I didn't measure here. I just cut and swerved as I moved up the longest length of the fabric. I avoid... if at all possible... all forms of measuring!

I just wrapped and wrapped and wrapped the fabric around my heart form until it was all covered. Each time I started and stopped a strip of fabric, I would put a line of hot glue to hold it into place.

Doily Flowers. After cutting out the inside of the doily and cutting apart the "doily ring", I just rolled and rolled and rolled until it was to the end. I added a bit of hot glue here and there just to keep it from unraveling on me.

I trimmed the ends off to achieve the height that I was looking for and added a bit of hot glue on the bottom to keep it in place.

Fabric Roses. I finally had a chance to try making these. Easy peasy once you get going! There are tons of tutorials online for making different types of fabric flowers, but I used this one.
All that was left to do was decorate my wreath. With my handy dandy glue gun, I hot glued raffia on (which I ended up taking off... just didn't like the look of it) and all of my flowers with a couple of heart buttons.
It didn't turn out exactly as I had pictured in my head and I just about posted it as a fail project! It feels... to me anyway... that it's missing something. I can't quite put my finger on it, though.
