Functional Friday Linky Party #1

I'm super excited to start my very first Linky Party!

Since I'm starting this one late, it will run through Monday.

I wish I had something to share with you for this party, but I've been super busy fine tuning some things on my blog and around the house.

My plan is to, if I get enough entries, to feature projects that caught my eye for the week.

Pinterest Eye Google - Halloween

I haven't had much time to craft lately or work on the projects that I would like to, but I have had a chance to get my eye google on.  Thanks to the wonderful website known as Follow Me on Pinterest.

We love Halloween!  For the last couple of years, we've been going over to my parents house to decorate and hand out candy.  They have tons of kiddos over there.

We used to decorate it up at our home, but not many kids would show up.  Not sure why.  Maybe because I'm known as the crazy cat lady.  Just kidding... or am I?

Housewives Need Help Too?

I've been a stay at home mom/housewife for 11 years now.  I kind of talked about this topic on my Just A Mom post.

I NEVER Thought I'd Be That Mom

If you would have asked me a couple of years ago, there would be no way in h-e-double hockey sticks that I would let my daughter shave.  No way, no how.  Not until she was in at least 7th grade.

My dad wouldn't let me shave until I was in 7th or 8th and no make up until 9th.  He was even hesitant about the whole make up thing at 15 years old.

I remember being so embarrassed and not wanting to wear shorts or skirts.  Other girls were shaving and  I would hear comments.  It hurt my feelings.

What A Week It's Been

We've had a busy and sad week.  A birthday, a football game and making arrangements for my aunt's funeral.

My son's football game was Thursday, my daughter's birthday was Friday (we had a birthday party for her today), the Rosary for my aunt was Friday and the funeral was Saturday.  We moved it to another day because of my aunt's passing.

We all miss her so very much.  Today was even harder because she and my grandmother would always show up early and always... always make sure that my littles had a great birthday.  Aunt Kathy and granny would always supply birthday goodies.

Little Mama's Day

Today is my little girls birthday!

She loves, loves, loves school.  Enjoys helping her teachers out and has a blast being an office helper.

She loves making friends and can't stop talking about them when she does.  She has the gift of gab.  Hey, she gets it honestly!

Little Mama loves cars, fake nails, fingernail polish and shoes.

The hubster says she's a little me.  In some ways, definitely.  I see a lot of my mother in her as well.

Last night my son had a football game and they won!  Yay!

Another Piece Of My Heart Is Gone

In March, of this year, my grandmother passed away.  Around the same time, my aunt had heart surgery.

In August, my dad had a total knee replacement surgery.

Today... my aunt passed away.  She was doing great after her surgery and everything seemed to be working fine.

She was the most giving person that I know.  She made sure that every occasion was a special one for my children.  I spent a lot of time with her as a child.

We will have many great memories of her, but I so wish there were many more to be had.

I'm in shock.

I'm going to miss her so very much.

RIP Aunt Kathy

I love and miss you.  I will see you again someday. <3 <3 <3

Taking Time To Chillax

That's something that has been super hard for me to do.  Just relax.  Just chill.  Just fa-get-about-it.

I'm just not made that way.  I worry about the kiddos.  I worry about money.  I worry about the house.  I worry about what people think of me.  I worry all.the.time.

I'm trying super hard not to.  To just let it run off my back.

Who cares that the Website Grader told me that a pre-k or kindergarten student could read my blog.  (They say it's a good thing)

I Changed My Mind...I So Make A Good Sports Mom

Well, not just any sports. Football! Woo Hoo!

Being at my son's game last night was so surreal. I never imagined that I would be at that same exact football field this soon. Especially watching one of my kiddos on that field.

5 years ago A few years ago (of course, I'm not gonna say how many), I was on that exact field. Marching with the band. Twirling my flag.  Yes, folks... I was a band geek!  I played the clarinet and saxophone.  Then, when I was a senior, I was a flag chick. I can hear you laughing!

Schedule...Shmedule

I've tried so hard to go by a schedule.  But it just never works for me.  I've even printed out one of those nifty free cleaning schedules online and I almost followed it.  Okay, I didn't even give it a shot. {hanging head}

The only time I use a calender is to write our bills on or if one of us has an appointment.  If not, I would forget what is due when and who needs to be where.

My sweetheart of a husband even tried to help me out by giving me ideas of a cleaning schedule.  Pfft... that lasted a whole two days.

I try to get a little bit done everyday, but it never... I mean never is all or even mostly done.

{still hanging head}

I know, I know... "You're a housewife, there is no reason not to have it done!"  I get it... I do.  But, I always have something else... something better to do.

I'm not saying our house is filthy.  It does need some help though.  My help.

Yes, when I share with you cleaning and organizing tips on my blog... it's my dream to be that organized!

How do you stick to a schedule?  I need some help here.  I just can't seem to make myself do it!

Signed...

I Don't Make A Good Sports Mom

This is my son's first year to play football.  He was so excited to play.  He loves football.

Of course, I was nervous for him.  I didn't want him to get hurt.  But, no matter what I have supported his decision to play.

This summer (before football started), I tried to explain to him that football was a tough sport.  The workouts are hard.  He would be getting hit hard and knocked on his butt over and over again.  He understood.

Then, we told our families that he was going to play football this year.  A few were supportive.  Most were not.  They didn't think he could play.  They didn't think he was "the type of kid" to play football.  That may be.  But, all I wanted them to do was support him.  Tell him that he can do anything he puts his mind to.  Give him a chance to try.

Random Things That Crossed My Mind Last Night

So, I was cooking dinner last night.  Marinated Mesquite Chicken, potato salad and broccoli and cauliflower with cheese.  I had put a load of dishes on while cooking... one kid was on the computer and one was in the living room watching the tube with the hubster.

Since I had nothing to do but wait on the chicken to get out of the oven and the veggies to heat up in the pot... I jotted down all the random things that were going through my head.  Who does that?!

Of course, I have to share them with my fantabulous readers!

Random Thought #1: The metal dishwasher prong things just randomly fall off from time to time.  But hey!  We have more room for larger dishes now!

My Memories Suite Scrapbook Software Giveaway

We have a winner! But, you can still save $10 on the software and get a $10 coupon for the MyMemories.com store! Details below.

I absolutely love digital scrapbooking.  There are so many adorable papers, elements and kits available to create projects to save and share your memories.  I've tried several different programs to create scrapbook pages and they simply did not have what I was looking for or they were too difficult to use.

That's why I was so excited to have the opportunity to review and play around with My Memories Suite digital scrapbooking software.  I have and am still having a blast creating projects.  I am completely amazed at how easy this software is to use.

This scrapbook software has many different templates to choose from as well as papers, embellishments and more.  You don't have to use one of the templates provided.  You can create an entire project from scratch.

We Have A Teenager!!

I'm excited to announce that today... we have a teenager living amongst us!  Our son turned 13 today!  I'm so happy for him because he is so excited.  Yet, a bit sad because he's growing up so fast.  No matter what, he will always be my little man.

It seems like it wasn't that long ago when I took this picture of him and his sister.  They are just too cute!

Autumn Is In The Air

With the wind starting to blow, the temperature starting to drop a bit and the leaves all over the ground...

I'm feeling a bit Autumn-y today.

I went on a mission to put up some Autumn/Fall decorations.  I have to say... I had a blast!

I had a couple of things on hand that I've used around the house before, but I wanted to add some more.

So, I headed off to the local Dollar General to find something to put together for our kitchen table.

And this is what I came up with...

Laundry, Dishes, Doctor Visits, School... Oh My!

I'm still procrastinating... or tired.  I haven't figured out which one yet.  So, I'm going to explain why I have been procrastinating letting a few things slide.

The last couple of months there has been something going on.  Something needing my attention.  Something to fix.  Something to pay.  Something to take care of.

So, when I have a day here or there that I don't have "as much" to do... I want to do absolutely nothing.  I want to start a project, but then I talk myself right out of it because there will be something else that I should... need... or have to be doing.

I'm not complaining.  Okay, maybe a little bit of whining.
