Pinterest Awesomeness

I love Pinterest!!  It's perfect for procrastinating, dreaming, wishing and even drooling!  It's one of the best places to get your eye google on!

Today, as I set off to find my Pinterest happy place, I found Halloween Goodies, Christmas Goodies, Football Awesomeness and Organization.  I spent way too much time there.

"I can't help it... It's so beautiful!"  You know, like that saying from Bugs Life?

There is everything that you can imagine and more!

Here's a sneak peek of a few of my boards...

Come on over and procrastinate with me!

The House of Smiths

I am in awe of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.  I absolutely love how they are not afraid to use color throughout their home.  I also love how they are not afraid to tackle projects for their home and try something new to make their home unique.

They were the inspiration for the colors that I chose to paint our home in (which I'm still in the process of).  I love, love, love the colors they chose to use in their home.

Their most recent project is their painted pantry door.  It is amazing!  I so want that!

If you have never visited The House of Smiths... you must!

Check out the oh so cute video they put together on the sidebar as well as the amazing DIY Projects and Tutorials.

I have to admit... I'm so very jealous of the talent in the Smith home and I would love to have my home look as gorgeous as theirs.

Crafty Goodness In My Head

I've been really, really, really wanting to make something.  Anything.  Well, not just anything.  But, I do have a couple of projects in mind.  It's just... I haven't had the time or the money.

I'm trying to use what I have on hand, but when my little brain starts coming up with new projects, it's the case of I have this to make that.... but, I need this to finish that.

Since I have two craft cabinets and a sewing cabinet stuffed with goodies, I should probably use those first.  But, but, but.... I miss Hobby Lobby so very much.

I was really excited for this weekend to be here.  Free time.  Free from the weekly going ons.  It's here!  The weekend is finally here!  But, I have tons of laundry that needs to be done and I should really make up with my dust rag (she wasn't too happy with me last time I used her).  Oh and the sweeping, mopping and organizing fairies are in deep, deep trouble.  They seem to have taken a vacation without notifying me first.

So, I guess I'll have to fill in until they get back....

Beyond Ready For This Week To Be Over - *Updated*

Lately, it seems, that my blog has turned into a complaint session.  But, one of the reasons that I have my blog is a place to talk about real life, real happenings and a place to vent.

I'm not planning on this to be a long post, but let's see where this takes us.

Last weekend, I got everything ready for the kiddos to start back to school.

Monday... went great for them.  I took my dad to the doctor for some blood work.  Went to the bank.  And a couple more errands.

Tuesday...  My daughter had a great day at school.  She loves her school and is still excited about going.  My son was sore from football practice, but had a great day and still excited.  In between picking the kiddos up from school, I went to the bank to make a deposit.  To make a long story short... I found out that our bank account was hacked.  I spent the rest of the day finding out what to do about it and taking steps to fix this evil person's doings.  I left the house about five times and  six times Wednesday.

Hi Ho Hi Ho. Back To School We Go.

Today was my kiddos first day back to school.  They were excited and nervous... all at the same time.

I knew both of them would do great, but I was really nervous for my son since he was officially going to a "teenager type" school.  No, switching classes with the same kids in his class.  He was on his own.  He had to find his own way to each class.

Pushing his way through the hallway packed full of kids and getting knocked around a bit, he made it through.  He said it wasn't as hard as he thought it was going to be.

Meet The Teacher Night = Woah! What?!

I usually dread these fun school get together's because I tend to get a bit uptight in huge groups.  I think it's my anxiety issue.  So, instead of being relaxed and not bothered by all the people, it fills more like this to me...

Last night was meet the teacher night at both of our kids schools.  First, was my daughter's.  It went very smoothly.  We walked up, was told where her homeroom would be, met the teacher, dropped off school supplies, signed a couple of contracts and was out the door in 30 minutes.  Easy peasy.

Super Fun Trip To The Hospital (for a check up)

As some of you may know, if you have been following me on Facebook or Twitter, I have been taking my Dad to his doctor visits and therapy pre and post knee surgery.  When he was doing all of his post op stuff some issues were found that didn't pertain to his knee.  So, today, I took him to see his doctor for a check up on the issues.

You see, the hospital here is crazy busy.  It's super tough to find a good parking spot.  On top of that, they have construction going on and a maze for a parking lot.

I've been driving him back and forth to his appointments in his truck since it's easier for him to get in and out of.  I drive a compact car.  So, me trying to get in and out of these (straight not angled) parking spots is like trying to park a monster truck in a regular size parking spot.  It takes several times pulling forward and backing up to get in the spot.

Same with me trying to push him in a wheelchair around the hospital.  The hardest is getting the wheelchair in and out of the elevators and office doors.  They made just enough room to squeeze the wheelchair in.  The whole time, I'm trying not to take off my dad's feet or smash him into a wall.

There are several different entrances into the hospital.  The one we needed to go into didn't have any wheelchairs.  So, we went to the next one thinking we could still get to the doctor's office from that area.  Boy, were we wrong.

We went to the 3rd floor, down to the 2nd floor, up to the 4th floor then finally back to the 3rd.  We asked three different people where we needed to go.  The last one, was right.

After sweating buckets and having my flip flop almost ate by the elevator, I finally got him to the correct place.  Seriously!  The elevator almost ate my flip flop!  I was backing dad in and my flip flop got caught where the doors close and off it came.... almost falling into the crack.  Imagine that plus the doors trying to close on us.

I should have know that was going to be a long couple of hours.  Needless to say, dad was late to his appointment, but they were very understanding.  The sad thing is... I had taken him there before.

At least, tomorrow, I know exactly where to take him.

We Got Spirit!

With school right around the corner and this being my son's first year playing football... it's got me to thinkin'.  My daughter may want to be a cheerleader.  But, in the meantime, she needs some hair accessories to show her support for bubba (as she calls him) at his games.

The first place I looked up was Etsy and I found some cuties!

I Love Me Some Flip Flops

I've heard they are bad for you.  But how can something so awesome be bad for you?  I have to admit, I have noticed that when I put on my tennis athletic shoes, my feet start hurting after a couple of hours.  I blame the shoes though... not my beloved flip flops.

I'm sure I shouldn't wear them as often as I do, but I can't help it.  I love me some flip flops!  I pretty much wear them year round here in Texas.  The only exception is the one possible day we may have ice (we don't normally get snow).

My favorite places to buy these purtys are Academy, Kohls and Cato's.

I have these from Academy...
They're only $7.99!

I would love to have these...

It's Hard To See Him This Way

My father had his surgery yesterday.  We were at the hospital most of the day yesterday.  I'm happy to say that he is doing well.  He is in a lot of pain, but is hanging in there.

Today, after sweating in the cafeteria at two schools to enroll my children (seriously, I don't even think they had the a/c on and I was hoping that sweat wasn't showing through my shirt) and speaking with oh so very nice ladies that work at my son's school (there were two nice ones)... we headed to the hospital again to check on dad.

He was in more pain than yesterday because they have him doing physical therapy already.  He's having a hard time getting his leg straight because for years now he's been bending it.  He has needed this surgery for many years, but he has put it off due to the amount of work he would lose.  The muscles in his leg are used to being kind of restricted and pulled close to the leg.  Now, he has to do the therapy, not only because of the surgery, but to try and get his leg straight.

I'm trying to help him make it through the pain by being positive and talking about his nifty stockings and happy face socks that they have him wearing.

It's tough to see my dad like this because he's one of those guys that never complains about being hurt or in pain.  He has always pushed through it.  Anytime I would get a boo boo and would show it to him, he would say "Aw, that's nothing.  Check out mine!"  He's also a very independent person and always wants to do things himself.  Now, he needs help and I will be there for him as much as possible.

So, this week is going to continue being very busy for me and I'm not sure when I will be able to post any projects.  I will continue to look for projects and goodies to share with you, though.

How I Lost 31 Pounds In 2 Months

BTW, if you click the link, there is a great article about Dieting for the Right Reasons.  Even though I don't diet or believe in calling it a "diet" it's a great read and it may just inspire you.
My daughter and I went to the grocery store today.  She originally didn't want to go, but I think her daddy may have bribed her.  He denies it completely.  I can't blame her.  I really, really don't like going to the grocery store.  Especially during the afternoon.  It's super busy, people are everywhere and they tend to stand in the middle of the isle.

But, we had to go.  There was no way around it.  We were down to two packages of veggies, two packages of meat, some cereal and a couple of other things.

Now, on to how I lost 31 pounds.  I don't believe in diets.  It's a lifestyle change.  Diets work sometimes, but most of the time, everything that is lost... is gained back.  I've tried diet programs.  I've tried diet pills (which make me completely jittery).  And I loathe exercising.  Although, I would probably lose weight faster if I added exercise to the mix.  I may have to at some point.

How To Turn A Lamp Into A Topiary

Ever since making the topiary for our master bathroom, I have wanted to make one for my daughters room.

I made this one differently, so I wanted to share with you how I made this topiary using a lamp.

My grandmother had brought a few lamps to donate to our garage sale a couple of weeks ago and I was so excited to see two that I just had to have.

I already had the purple vine flowers... Perfect! I'll use those!

All I needed was a few other supplies (most I had on hand) and I was good to go.
