Halloween Sign Made With A Window Cling

We were at the local Dollar General the other day (we love us some Dollar stores) and we were browsing the Halloween isle. The hubster came across some Window Clings and said, "Why don't you put these on a sign?!"

Thinking that was such a cute idea... I happily obliged!

Today, I made this cutie of a sign with a few supplies I had on hand... a buck worth of squishy spiders and one window cling. The window clings were only a buck, too!

Halloween Wood Sign

I knew that I was going to be sanding the edges to make it look a bit worn. Using green and orange paint, I painted a few areas where I wanted the colors to come through after sanding.

It looks kind of yucky, but don't worry!

Next, I painted the entire sign yellow.

Once the sign was completely dry, I...

~ Sanded the edges
~ Used spray adhesive to attatch the window cling
~ Covered the entire surface in Mod Podge
~ Made a bow and glued it on using E6000
~ Last but not least... glued my squishy spiders on (also using E6000)

So, whatcha think?

It was pretty quick and easy to make. The longest time was spent waiting on the paint and Mod Podge to dry. No worries! You can just grab a drink and a snack or take a nap until it's done. :)

Awesome Job! Great idea to use the window cling. At first I thought you painted it.

That's like one of the best ideas I've ever heard! Instant and affordable art. I love how you sanded it down to let those colors show through as well! Thanks for sharing!
